STUDY AUTHORS: Stephen R. Braund & Associates

Existing data on prehistory, ethnography, and history are summarized. Additionally, information from interviews with tribes and other interested local parties and from field surveys is provided.

Elements

  • Two possible tent rings, likely pre-historic Yup’ik and ranging between 15 and 20 feet across, were identified on Kaskanak Mountian. These rings are located near other historic hunting blinds and resemble some tent rings found in high-arctic Canada.
  • Evidence of 18th century Russian and later American exploration and development are found in the Pebble study area.
